EXCEL 97: Further Plots

A. Colin Cameron, Dept. of Economics, Univ. of Calif. - Davis

This September 1999 help sheet gives information on For considerable detail on the basics of chart making see The presentation here is much shorter.

MULTIPLE PLOT

Of most interest is a multiple plot with one variable on the horizontal axis and several variables on the vertical axis.

Use the Chart Wizard | XY Scatter Plot.

The complication is determining what series will be on the horizontal axis and which on the vertical.
The Excel default is to put the first series on the horizontal axis and the remaining series on the vertical axis.
So it is easiest to order the data in this way.

For example, to plot house list price and house sale price against house size (in square feet):

Separate trendlines for each series can be added after the chart is created by clicking on an individual data point on the chart.

ANALYSIS OF VARIANCE
